The Hari Shankar Singhania School of Business inherits its namesake from the legacy of the late Shri Hari Shankar Singhania, one of India’s great industrial leaders.

Shri H S Singhania (1933–2013) was a stalwart of Indian industry, renowned for his innovative spirit, commitment to excellence, and contributions to nation-building. As a key leader of the JK Organisation, one of India’s largest industrial conglomerates, he played a pivotal role in steering the group toward diversification and global expansion, making it a symbol of India’s industrial strength.

Born into a family deeply rooted in entrepreneurship, he inherited a legacy of hard work and visionary leadership. He joined the family business and quickly demonstrated exceptional acumen. Under his stewardship, the JK Organisation expanded its footprint across diverse sectors, including paper, cement, textiles, automotive tires, and healthcare, fostering innovation and sustainability.

Shri H S Singhania was deeply committed to education and social development. He championed the establishment of world-class institutions, such as the JK Lakshmipat University, which continues to inspire future generations. His philanthropic efforts extend to healthcare, rural development, and environmental conservation, reflecting his belief in inclusive growth.

Recognized for his contributions, he received numerous accolades, including the prestigious Padma Bhushan, one of India’s highest civilian honors. He also served as President of the International Chamber of Commerce (Paris), and was Chairman of the Governing Board of IIM Lucknow for 15 years. His leadership style, characterized by integrity, humility, and a forward-looking vision, set benchmarks in corporate governance and ethical business practice.
